 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Lone Star College-University Park is celebrating
 the grand opening of its new Visual and Performing Arts Center with
 a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 6, 2023; and
 WHEREAS, The $29.3 million project was first announced in
 late 2019, and construction began on May 31, 2022; the
 30,000-square-foot center features art, drama, and music
 classrooms as well as a wide range of other facilities, including an
 art gallery, a band hall, a 338-seat main-stage theater with an
 orchestra pit, and a 100-seat black box theater; in addition,
 visual and performing arts students will be able to use the center
 to showcase their work, performances, and exhibits; and
 WHEREAS, The center's grand opening event includes a
 ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours of the new building, and a
 drama performance of A Christmas Carol; and
 WHEREAS, The Visual and Performing Arts Center will enable
 Lone Star College students to better develop their talents and
 potential, and it is sure to serve as an invaluable resource for the
 campus and for the greater community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commemorate the grand
 opening of the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Lone Star
 College-University Park and commend all those involved in bringing
 this project to fruition; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the university as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
