| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Mr. Wea Lee and the International Trade Center |

| 4 | 4 | | Community Empowerment Organization of Houston on the occasion of |

| 5 | 5 | | the organization's 21st anniversary, which is being celebrated |

| 6 | 6 | | with a gala on November 17, 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The International Trade Center of Houston was |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | established in 2002 by founder Wea Lee; Mr. Lee, a business |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | magnate who publishes the Southern Chinese Daily News and prints |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | over 50 international news publications, founded the trade |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | center to encourage and facilitate international business in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Houston; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The organization has played an important role in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | promoting global financial activity and diversifying the local |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | economy in Houston; the ITC Community Empowerment Organization |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | has hosted more than 200 community and international events since |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | its inception in 2002 and continues to support and vitalize |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | communities and industries in the Houston metropolitan area; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The organization has played a crucial and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | productive role in facilitating relationships between Houston |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | businesses and new global partners, and it is indeed fitting that |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | it receive special recognition on more than two decades of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | success; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Mr. Wea Lee and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the members of the ITC Community Empowerment Organization on |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | their commitment to Houston's growth and prosperity and extend to |

| 28 | 28 | | all best wishes for a memorable 21st anniversary celebration; |
