SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 18
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Mr. Wea Lee and the International Trade Center
Community Empowerment Organization of Houston on the occasion of
the organization's 21st anniversary, which is being celebrated
with a gala on November 17, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The International Trade Center of Houston was
established in 2002 by founder Wea Lee; Mr. Lee, a business
magnate who publishes the Southern Chinese Daily News and prints
over 50 international news publications, founded the trade
center to encourage and facilitate international business in
Houston; and
WHEREAS, The organization has played an important role in
promoting global financial activity and diversifying the local
economy in Houston; the ITC Community Empowerment Organization
has hosted more than 200 community and international events since
its inception in 2002 and continues to support and vitalize
communities and industries in the Houston metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, The organization has played a crucial and
productive role in facilitating relationships between Houston
businesses and new global partners, and it is indeed fitting that
it receive special recognition on more than two decades of
success; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend Mr. Wea Lee and
the members of the ITC Community Empowerment Organization on
their commitment to Houston's growth and prosperity and extend to
all best wishes for a memorable 21st anniversary celebration;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
