SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 34
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Holocaust Remembrance Association in honor of the
opening of the Holocaust Garden of Hope in Kingwood on
November 5, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The Holocaust Remembrance Association is a
nonprofit educational organization based in Kingwood that was
formed on January 27, 2019, by Jewish descendants of Holocaust
survivors and their Christian allies; the association seeks to
sensitize hearts to the history of the Holocaust and to encourage
people to stand against the evils of antisemitism, persecution,
prejudice, and indifference to suffering; and
WHEREAS, In the early 20th century, the Jewish people
endured a horrific genocide at the hands of the Nazis, led by Adolf
Hitler under the Third Reich; the history of antisemitism on the
European continent created an atmosphere of intolerance and a
disregard for ethnic violence targeting the Jewish people, and the
unwillingness of the international community to condemn the Nazi
regime allowed for the escalation of the Nazis' influence and
control in perpetuating the extermination of Jewish life; and
WHEREAS, The Holocaust Remembrance Association exists to
renew the historical memory of this tragic event and the lives it
claimed and to promote education, healing, reconciliation, and
understanding between the Jewish people and other communities; and
WHEREAS, The Holocaust Garden of Hope pays tribute to the
lives of those affected by the Holocaust and seeks to highlight the
stories of victims, survivors, rescuers, and repentant descendants
of Nazi perpetrators; these accounts of resilience, hope, and
bravery are sure to evoke in visitors a profound admiration for the
Jewish people and their history and to inspire future generations
to defend their existence and to value Jewish life; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the Holocaust
Remembrance Association on its invaluable contributions to the
betterment of our society and extend to all who have contributed
to the Holocaust Garden of Hope best wishes for a day of
reflection and healing; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
