                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 73
 In Memory
 of
 Gregory Byrne
 WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Gregory Raymond
 Byrne of Dallas were deeply saddened by his passing on October 1,
 2023, at the age of 68; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Hamilton, Ohio, on July 9, 1955, Greg
 Byrne was the son of Raymond and Melba Byrne; he graduated from
 Badin High School in 1973 and subsequently began studies at
 Cincinnati Technical College; when his father fell ill, he went
 to work full-time and helped take care of his family; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of a varied career, Mr. Byrne was
 employed with a car dealership in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, before
 owning and operating a repo business for a number of years; he then
 worked on a horse ranch in Colorado until returning home to care for
 his mother; following her passing, he relocated to New Orleans and
 found work as a bouncer on Bourbon Street; several years later, he
 moved to North Texas and was hired as a park ranger with the City of
 Dallas, a position he held until his retirement in 2016; along the
 way, he served as a Dallas County election clerk for many years and
 went on to become an election judge; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Byrne met his wife, Juliana, in 2007; they
 shared a rewarding relationship that spanned 16 years, and he had
 the pleasure of welcoming into his family a stepson, Alberto; in
 his leisure time, he was an avid sports fan and rooted for the
 University of Notre Dame and Cincinnati Bengals football teams; a
 man of faith, he held a number of leadership positions at his
 church, and he performed mission work in Honduras for several
 summers; and
 WHEREAS, Although Greg Byrne is greatly missed, he has left
 his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever
 cherish; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
 of Gregory Raymond Byrne and extend sincere sympathy to the
 members of his family: to his wife, Juliana Martinez; to his
 stepson, Alberto Martinez, and his fiancée, Rose; and to his
 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
 this day, it do so in memory of Greg Byrne.
