56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
6- memories of Billy Lee Hughes of Golden, who passed away on
7- April 30, 2023, at the age of 79; and
8- WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Golden, Billy Hughes was
9- born to Ernest and Frances Hughes on July 16, 1943, and grew up
10- with three brothers, Mike, Sam, and Bob, and two sisters,
11- Francine and Anna; and
12- WHEREAS, Mr. Hughes enjoyed a successful career as a
13- brakeman and conductor and retired after 43 years of service to
14- the Union Pacific Railroad; in his leisure hours, one of his
15- favorite pastimes was growing watermelons; and
7+ memories of Billy Lee Hughes of Golden, who passed away on April 30,
8+ 2023, at the age of 79; and
9+ WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Golden, Billy Hughes was born

1617 WHEREAS, On August 19, 1981, Mr. Hughes married Jo Ann
17- Nahrstedt, and the couple shared a rewarding union that spanned
18- 37 years until her passing; Mr. Hughes was the proud father of
19- two children, Ernest and Jennifer, and he was further blessed
20- with three grandchildren, Morgan, Reagan, and Jackson, and a

25- their hearts; now, therefore, be it
26- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
27- Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
28- of Billy Lee Hughes and extend sincere condolences to all who
29- mourn his passing; and, be it further

26+ hearts; now, therefore, be it
27+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 4th
28+ Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Billy Lee Hughes
29+ and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be

31- prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
