| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 1551, Insurance Code, is | |
| 13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 1551.2255 to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 1551.2255. COVERAGE OF MEDICALLY NECESSARY HEALTH CARE | |
| 15 | 15 | AND TREATMENT. (a) The board of trustees shall develop a plan for | |
| 16 | 16 | providing coverage under the group benefits program of any health | |
| 17 | 17 | care or treatment deemed medically necessary by a participant's | |
| 18 | 18 | treating physician or health care provider. | |
| 19 | 19 | (b) The board of trustees may adopt rules as necessary to | |
| 20 | 20 | implement this section. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 22 | 22 | a plan year that commences on or after January 1, 2026. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
