A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to protection of officers engaged in investigation of
election offenses.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 273.001, Election Code, is amended by
adding subsection (f) to read as follows:
(f) An offense under this code does not apply to person who
is a peace officer or prosecutor of this state engaged in an
investigation or prosecution of a violation of a law under this
code, when conduct is:
(1) authorized by the person's law enforcement agency,
and
(2) in furtherance of an official investigation.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
