77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the manner of reporting results in the conduct of
1010 elections.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 67.017, Election Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1414 (a-1) The report of precinct results for a general election
1515 shall include each candidate's percentage of the total number of
1616 votes received by all candidates for each office.
1717 SECTION 2. Section 68.004, Election Code, is amended by
1818 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1919 (b-1) The periodic reports for a primary, runoff primary, or
2020 general election shall include each candidate's percentage of the
2121 total number of votes received by all the candidates for the
2222 nomination or office, as applicable.
2323 SECTION 3. Section 68.005, Election Code, is amended by
2424 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
2525 (b-1) The final report for a primary, runoff primary, or
2626 general election shall include each candidate's percentage of the
2727 total number of votes received by all the candidates for the
2828 nomination or office, as applicable.
2929 SECTION 4. Section 172.113, Election Code, is amended by
3030 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
3131 (a-1) The unofficial tabulation of precinct results shall
3232 include each candidate's percentage of the total number of votes
3333 received by all the candidates for the nomination.
3434 SECTION 5. Section 172.124(a), Election Code, is amended to
3535 read as follows:
3636 (a) For each primary election and any resulting runoff
3737 election, the county clerk shall prepare a report of the number of
3838 votes, including early voting votes, received in each county
3939 election precinct by each candidate for nomination to a statewide
4040 or district [an] office[, other than a party office,] as provided by
4141 Section 67.017 for the report of precinct results for a general
4242 election.
4343 SECTION 6. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
