11 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Article 14.03(g), Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
---|
13 | 15 | | amended by adding Subdivision (2-a) to read as follows: |

14 | 16 | | (2-a) A peace officer described by Article 2A.001(14) |
---|
15 | 17 | | who is licensed under Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, and is |
---|
16 | 18 | | outside of the officer's jurisdiction may arrest without a warrant |
---|
17 | 19 | | a person who commits any offense within the officer's presence or |
---|
18 | 20 | | view, except that an officer described in this subdivision who is |
---|
19 | 21 | | outside of that officer's jurisdiction may arrest a person for a |
---|
20 | 22 | | violation of Subtitle C, Title 7, Transportation Code, only if the |
---|
21 | 23 | | offense is committed in a county with a population of 500,000 or |
---|
22 | 24 | | more in which the district employing the peace officer is located. |

23 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
