79 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
810 AN ACT
911 relating to the authority of certain peace officers to arrest a
1012 person without a warrant while outside the officer's jurisdiction.
1113 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1214 SECTION 1. Article 14.03(g), Code of Criminal Procedure, is
1315 amended by adding Subdivision (2-a) to read as follows:
1416 (2-a) A peace officer described by Article 2A.001(14)
1517 who is licensed under Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, and is
1618 outside of the officer's jurisdiction may arrest without a warrant
1719 a person who commits any offense within the officer's presence or
1820 view, except that an officer described in this subdivision who is
1921 outside of that officer's jurisdiction may arrest a person for a
2022 violation of Subtitle C, Title 7, Transportation Code, only if the
2123 offense is committed in a county with a population of 500,000 or
2224 more in which the district employing the peace officer is located.
2325 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
