6	9		A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
7	10		AN ACT
8	11		relating to the maximum weight of a vehicle or combination of
9	12		vehicles operating at certain ports of entry.
10	13		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
11	14		SECTION 1. Section 621.101(c), Transportation Code, is
12	15		amended to read as follows:
13	16		(c) This section does not:
14	17		(1) authorize size or weight limits on the national
15	18		system of interstate and defense highways in this state greater
16	19		than those permitted under 23 U.S.C. Section 127, as amended;
17	20		(2) prohibit the operation of a vehicle or combination
18	21		of vehicles that could be lawfully operated on a highway or road of
19	22		this state on December 16, 1974; [or]
20	23		(3) apply to a vehicle or combination of vehicles that
21	24		operates exclusively:
22	25		(A) at a private port of entry;
23	26		(B) on private roads associated with the port of
24	27		entry; and
25	28		(C) across a public highway between private roads
26	29		associated with the port of entry under a contract under Section
27	30		623.052; or
28	31		(4) apply to a vehicle or combination of vehicles that
29	32		is authorized to operate under a permit issued under Section
30		-	623.363 while the vehicle or combination is operating at an
31		-	international bridge that is owned, wholly or partially, by a
32		-	municipality in this state with a population of 50,000 or more but
33		-	less than 85,000.
	33	+	623.363 while the vehicle or combination is operating at a port of
	34	+	entry that is located in a municipality with a population of 75,000
	35	+	or more.
34	36		SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
35	37		a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
36	38		provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
37	39		Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
38	40		Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
