69 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
710 AN ACT
811 relating to the maximum weight of a vehicle or combination of
912 vehicles operating at certain ports of entry.
1013 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1114 SECTION 1. Section 621.101(c), Transportation Code, is
1215 amended to read as follows:
1316 (c) This section does not:
1417 (1) authorize size or weight limits on the national
1518 system of interstate and defense highways in this state greater
1619 than those permitted under 23 U.S.C. Section 127, as amended;
1720 (2) prohibit the operation of a vehicle or combination
1821 of vehicles that could be lawfully operated on a highway or road of
1922 this state on December 16, 1974; [or]
2023 (3) apply to a vehicle or combination of vehicles that
2124 operates exclusively:
2225 (A) at a private port of entry;
2326 (B) on private roads associated with the port of
2427 entry; and
2528 (C) across a public highway between private roads
2629 associated with the port of entry under a contract under Section
2730 623.052; or
2831 (4) apply to a vehicle or combination of vehicles that
2932 is authorized to operate under a permit issued under Section
30- 623.363 while the vehicle or combination is operating at an
31- international bridge that is owned, wholly or partially, by a
32- municipality in this state with a population of 50,000 or more but
33- less than 85,000.
33+ 623.363 while the vehicle or combination is operating at a port of
34+ entry that is located in a municipality with a population of 75,000
35+ or more.
3436 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3537 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3638 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3739 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3840 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
