10 | 10 | | Board on the feasibility of implementing a statewide system for |

11 | 11 | | coordinating clinical training placements. |

12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is |
---|
14 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 61.09012 to read as follows: |
---|
15 | 15 | | Sec. 61.09012. STUDY ON CLINICAL TRAINING PLACEMENTS FOR |
---|
16 | 16 | | STUDENTS. (a) The board shall conduct a study on the feasibility |
---|
17 | 17 | | of developing regional portals to assist in reserving clinical |
---|
18 | 18 | | rotations at health care facilities for students enrolled in |
---|
19 | 19 | | institutions of higher education who require clinical training. |
---|
20 | 20 | | (b) The study must determine: |
---|
21 | 21 | | (1) the number of regions needed to adequately support |
---|
22 | 22 | | institutions of higher education and students that require clinical |
---|
23 | 23 | | training; |
---|
24 | 24 | | (2) the cost of establishing regional portals; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | (3) the necessary maintenance, support, and staff |
---|
26 | 26 | | required to establish and maintain the regional portals. |
---|
27 | 27 | | (c) Not later than December 1, 2026, the board shall submit |
---|
28 | 28 | | to the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house |
---|
29 | 29 | | of representatives, and the chair of each standing committee with |
---|
30 | 30 | | primary jurisdiction over higher education a written report that |
---|
31 | 31 | | includes the study's findings and any recommendations for |
---|
32 | 32 | | legislative or other action. |
---|
33 | 33 | | (d) This section expires September 1, 2027. |
---|
34 | 34 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
35 | 35 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
36 | 36 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
37 | 37 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
38 | 38 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
