| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 21.002, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 13 | 13 | adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (a-1) A contract described by Subsection (a) must include | |
| 15 | 15 | provisions that: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) specify the number of days of service during which | |
| 17 | 17 | the educator is required to perform duties or responsibilities | |
| 18 | 18 | under the contract, including duties and responsibilities related | |
| 19 | 19 | to the instruction and supervision of students; | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) specify the first and last days of service of the | |
| 21 | 21 | contract term; and | |
| 22 | 22 | (3) require the district employing the educator to | |
| 23 | 23 | compensate the educator at the educator's daily rate of pay for any | |
| 24 | 24 | additional days of service that exceed the number of days of service | |
| 25 | 25 | specified under Subdivision (1). | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 27 | 27 | to a contract entered into on or after the effective date of this | |
| 28 | 28 | Act. A contract entered into before the effective date of this Act | |
| 29 | 29 | is governed by the law in effect on the date the contract was | |
| 30 | 30 | entered into, and the former law is continued in effect for that | |
| 31 | 31 | purpose. | |
| 32 | 32 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
