A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to certain provisions required to be included in teacher
employment contracts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 21.002, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
(a-1) A contract described by Subsection (a) must include
provisions that:
(1) specify the number of days of service during which
the educator is required to perform duties or responsibilities
under the contract, including duties and responsibilities related
to the instruction and supervision of students;
(2) specify the first and last days of service of the
contract term; and
(3) require the district employing the educator to
compensate the educator at the educator's daily rate of pay for any
additional days of service that exceed the number of days of service
specified under Subdivision (1).
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a contract entered into on or after the effective date of this
Act. A contract entered into before the effective date of this Act
is governed by the law in effect on the date the contract was
entered into, and the former law is continued in effect for that
purpose.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
