| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 1952, Insurance Code, is amended by | |
| 13 | 13 | adding Subchapter I to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | SUBCHAPTER I. PREMIUM DISCOUNT FOR DASHBOARD CAMERAS | |
| 15 | 15 | Sec. 1952.401. DEFINITION. In this subchapter, "motor | |
| 16 | 16 | vehicle" means any motor driven or propelled vehicle required to be | |
| 17 | 17 | registered under the laws of this state. | |
| 18 | 18 | Sec. 1952.402. DASHBOARD CAMERA DISCOUNT. The commissioner | |
| 19 | 19 | by rule shall require insurers to provide a premium discount on an | |
| 20 | 20 | automobile insurance policy if a covered motor vehicle has a | |
| 21 | 21 | dashboard camera installed. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. (a) Not later than December 1, 2025, the | |
| 23 | 23 | commissioner of insurance shall adopt rules as required by this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act. | |
| 25 | 25 | (b) The changes in law made by this Act apply only to an | |
| 26 | 26 | insurance policy that is delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed | |
| 27 | 27 | on or after January 1, 2026. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
