| 10 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 193.006, Health and Safety Code, is | |
| 12 | 13 | amended by amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (e) to | |
| 13 | 14 | read as follows: | |
| 14 | 15 | (d) When the death certificate of a person to which this | |
| 15 | 16 | section applies is filed with the vital statistics unit, the | |
| 16 | 17 | department [state registrar] shall submit to [notify] the Texas | |
| 17 | 18 | Veterans Commission deidentified information on the person's: | |
| 18 | 19 | (1) manner of death, only if the death was by suicide | |
| 19 | 20 | or homicide; | |
| 20 | 21 | (2) age; | |
| 21 | 22 | (3) race; | |
| 22 | - | (4) previous use of psychotropic drugs; | |
| 23 | - | (5) sex; and | |
| 24 | - | (6) occupation. | |

| 25 | 25 | (e) Not later than September 1 of each year, the Texas | |
| 26 | 26 | Veterans Commission shall prepare and submit to the standing | |

| 29 | 29 | written report that contains: | |
| 30 | 30 | (1) aggregated data based on the information the | |
| 31 | 31 | commission receives under Subsection (d) for the preceding year; | |
| 32 | 32 | (2) an evaluation of that data; and | |
| 33 | 33 | (3) any recommendations for legislative or other | |
| 34 | 34 | action. | |
| 35 | 35 | SECTION 2. Not later than September 1, 2027, the Texas | |
| 36 | 36 | Veterans Commission shall prepare and submit the initial report | |
| 37 | 37 | required by Section 193.006(e), Health and Safety Code, as added by | |
| 38 | 38 | this Act. | |
| 39 | 39 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
