A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to eligibility to serve on the board of directors of an
appraisal district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 6.035, Tax Code, is amended by adding
Subsection (a-2) to read as follows:
(a-2) An individual is ineligible to serve in an appointive
position on an appraisal district board of directors if the
individual holds an elective office. An individual is ineligible
to serve in an elective position on an appraisal district board of
directors if the individual holds another elective office.
SECTION 2. Section 6.035(a-2), Tax Code, as added by this
Act, does not affect the eligibility of a person serving on the
board of directors of an appraisal district immediately before the
effective date of this Act to continue to serve on the board for the
term to which the person was appointed or elected.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
