| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 2, Health and Safety Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Chapter 56 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | CHAPTER 56. PERIMENOPAUSE AND MENOPAUSE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 56.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "program" means |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the perimenopause and menopause educational program established |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | under this chapter. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Sec. 56.002. ESTABLISHMENT OF PROGRAM. The department |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | shall establish a perimenopause and menopause educational program |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to educate residents of this state about: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (1) symptoms of and treatments for perimenopause and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | menopause, including symptoms for which a woman is advised to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | consult a health care provider; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (2) the physiological process of perimenopause and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | menopause; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (3) approaches for encouraging women to discuss |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | perimenopause and menopause; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (4) other information as determined by the department. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Sec. 56.003. CONSULTATION WITH HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. The |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | department may consult with health care providers, including |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | obstetricians, gynecologists, community health centers, and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | hospitals, with expertise in women's health care to implement the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | program. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Sec. 56.004. INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS. (a) The department |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | shall develop written and electronic informational materials for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the program, including materials to address the educational goals |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | established under Section 56.002. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | (b) The department shall post the informational materials |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | on the department's Internet website and print the materials for |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | distribution at program events. |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | establish the program and develop the informational materials as |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | required by Chapter 56, Health and Safety Code, as added by this |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Act. |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
