77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the establishment of a perimenopause and menopause
1010 educational program by the Department of State Health Services.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 2, Health and Safety Code, is
1313 amended by adding Chapter 56 to read as follows:
1414 CHAPTER 56. PERIMENOPAUSE AND MENOPAUSE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
1515 Sec. 56.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "program" means
1616 the perimenopause and menopause educational program established
1717 under this chapter.
1818 Sec. 56.002. ESTABLISHMENT OF PROGRAM. The department
1919 shall establish a perimenopause and menopause educational program
2020 to educate residents of this state about:
2121 (1) symptoms of and treatments for perimenopause and
2222 menopause, including symptoms for which a woman is advised to
2323 consult a health care provider;
2424 (2) the physiological process of perimenopause and
2525 menopause;
2626 (3) approaches for encouraging women to discuss
2727 perimenopause and menopause; and
2828 (4) other information as determined by the department.
2929 Sec. 56.003. CONSULTATION WITH HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. The
3030 department may consult with health care providers, including
3131 obstetricians, gynecologists, community health centers, and
3232 hospitals, with expertise in women's health care to implement the
3333 program.
3434 Sec. 56.004. INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS. (a) The department
3535 shall develop written and electronic informational materials for
3636 the program, including materials to address the educational goals
3737 established under Section 56.002.
3838 (b) The department shall post the informational materials
3939 on the department's Internet website and print the materials for
4040 distribution at program events.
4141 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
4242 of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall
4343 establish the program and develop the informational materials as
4444 required by Chapter 56, Health and Safety Code, as added by this
4545 Act.
4646 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
