 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the establishment of a perimenopause and menopause
 educational program by the Department of State Health Services.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subtitle B, Title 2, Health and Safety Code, is
 amended by adding Chapter 56 to read as follows:
 CHAPTER 56. PERIMENOPAUSE AND MENOPAUSE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
 Sec. 56.001.  DEFINITION. In this chapter, "program" means
 the perimenopause and menopause educational program established
 under this chapter.
 Sec. 56.002.  ESTABLISHMENT OF PROGRAM. The department
 shall establish a perimenopause and menopause educational program
 to educate residents of this state about:
 (1)  symptoms of and treatments for perimenopause and
 menopause, including symptoms for which a woman is advised to
 consult a health care provider;
 (2)  the physiological process of perimenopause and
 menopause;
 (3)  approaches for encouraging women to discuss
 perimenopause and menopause; and
 (4)  other information as determined by the department.
 Sec. 56.003.  CONSULTATION WITH HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. The
 department may consult with health care providers, including
 obstetricians, gynecologists, community health centers, and
 hospitals, with expertise in women's health care to implement the
 program.
 Sec. 56.004.  INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS. (a) The department
 shall develop written and electronic informational materials for
 the program, including materials to address the educational goals
 established under Section 56.002.
 (b)  The department shall post the informational materials
 on the department's Internet website and print the materials for
 distribution at program events.
 SECTION 2.  As soon as practicable after the effective date
 of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall
 establish the program and develop the informational materials as
 required by Chapter 56, Health and Safety Code, as added by this
 Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
