| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 24.123, Government Code, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 24.123. 22ND JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([CALDWELL,] COMAL |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | COUNTY [, AND HAYS COUNTIES]). |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Sections 24.123(a) and (c), Government Code, are |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (a) The 22nd Judicial District is composed of [Caldwell,] |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Comal County [, and Hays counties]. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (c) The terms of the 22nd District Court begin [: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | [(1) in Caldwell County on the first Mondays in March, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | June, September, and December; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | [(2) in Comal County] on the first Mondays in April, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | July, October, and January [; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | [(3) in Hays County on the first Mondays in February, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | May, August, and November]. |

| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | amended by adding Section 24.60050 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Sec. 24.60050. 508TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (HAYS COUNTY). The |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 508th Judicial District is composed of Hays County. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 4. Section 152.1111(a), Human Resources Code, is |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (a) The juvenile board of Hays County is composed of the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | county judge, the administrative judge of the Hays County District |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Court [district judge of the 22nd judicial district], the judges of |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the county court at law, the county sheriff, and the criminal |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | district attorney. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | SECTION 5. (a) The local administrative district judge |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | shall transfer to: |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | (1) the 508th District Court all cases from Hays |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | County that are pending in the 22nd District Court on the effective |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | date of this Act; and |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (2) the 207th District Court all cases from Caldwell |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | County that are pending in the 22nd District Court on the effective |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | date of this Act. |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | (b) When a case is transferred as provided by Subsection (a) |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | of this section: |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | (1) all processes, writs, bonds, recognizances, or |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | other obligations issued from the 22nd District Court are |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | returnable to the district court to which the case is transferred as |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | if originally issued by that court; and |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | (2) the obligees on all bonds and recognizances taken |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | in and for the 22nd District Court and all witnesses summoned to |
|---|
| 54 | 54 | | appear in the 22nd District Court are required to appear before the |
|---|
| 55 | 55 | | district court to which the case is transferred as if originally |
|---|
| 56 | 56 | | required to appear before that court. |
|---|
| 57 | 57 | | SECTION 6. The 508th Judicial District is created on the |
|---|
| 58 | 58 | | effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 59 | 59 | | SECTION 7. This Act takes effect September 30, 2027. |
