7 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

8 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter V, Chapter 51, Education Code, is |
---|
9 | 11 | | amended by amending Section 51.834 to read as follows: |
---|
10 | 12 | | Sec. 51.834. REPORT. (a) The council shall deliver a |
---|
11 | 13 | | report on the program to the governor, the lieutenant governor, and |
---|
12 | 14 | | the speaker of the house of representatives not later than December |
---|
13 | 15 | | 31 of each even-numbered year. |
---|
14 | 16 | | (b) The report must contain detailed information regarding: |
---|
15 | 17 | | (1) any problems the council identifies in |
---|
16 | 18 | | implementing the program, with recommended solutions for those |
---|
17 | 19 | | problems; |
---|
18 | 20 | | (2) the expenditure of any money received under this |
---|
19 | 21 | | subchapter, including legislative appropriations; [and] |
---|
20 | 22 | | (3) the number of students who are admitted to the |
---|
21 | 23 | | program and who are enrolled in each year of a baccalaureate, |
---|
22 | 24 | | graduate, or professional degree program offered by a general |
---|
23 | 25 | | academic teaching institution, a private or independent |
---|
24 | 26 | | institution of higher education, or a participating medical school, |
---|
25 | 27 | | as applicable; [.] |
---|
26 | 28 | | (4) the number of students who are dismissed, |
---|
27 | 29 | | terminated, placed on probation, or otherwise withdrawn from the |
---|
28 | 30 | | program by the council or voluntary decision who were enrolled in |
---|
29 | 31 | | each year of a baccalaureate, graduate, or professional degree |
---|
30 | 32 | | program offered by a general academic teaching institution, a |
---|
31 | 33 | | private or independent institution of higher education, or a |
---|
32 | 34 | | participating medical school, as applicable; and |
---|
33 | 35 | | (5) expenditure for graduate scholarships awarded to |
---|
34 | 36 | | participating medical students; including the amount per student |
---|
35 | 37 | | and any need to maintain the ending balance in lieu of reallocation |
---|
36 | 38 | | to medical school scholarship recipients. |
---|
37 | 39 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
38 | 40 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
39 | 41 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
40 | 42 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
41 | 43 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
