A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to librarians employed by public schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 33, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 33.025 to read as follows:
Sec. 33.025. LIBRARIANS. (a) Each school district and
open-enrollment charter school shall ensure that a librarian is
present during at least half of each school day at each district or
school campus.
(b) The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to
implement this section.
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2026-2027
school year.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
