77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to a person's eligibility for an occupational license
1010 based on a conviction for an offense under federal law.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 53.021, Occupations Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1414 (b-1) A licensing authority shall revoke a license,
1515 disqualify a person from receiving a license, or deny to a person
1616 the opportunity to take a licensing examination on the grounds that
1717 the person has been convicted of any offense under federal law.
1818 SECTION 2. Section 53.021, Occupations Code, as amended by
1919 this Act, applies only to conduct that occurs on or after the
2020 effective date of this Act.
2121 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
