 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a person's eligibility for an occupational license
 based on a conviction for an offense under federal law.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 53.021, Occupations Code, is amended by
 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
 (b-1)  A licensing authority shall revoke a license,
 disqualify a person from receiving a license, or deny to a person
 the opportunity to take a licensing examination on the grounds that
 the person has been convicted of any offense under federal law.
 SECTION 2.  Section 53.021, Occupations Code, as amended by
 this Act, applies only to conduct that occurs on or after the
 effective date of this Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
