88 AN ACT
99 relating to an exception to certain reporting requirements for
1010 health care providers reviewing selected cases for the Texas
1111 Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Chapter 34, Health and Safety Code, is amended by
1414 adding Section 34.0085 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 34.0085. CASE INFORMATION EXCEPTED FROM PROFESSIONAL
1616 REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. Notwithstanding any other law and for
1717 purposes of this chapter, a health care provider, including a
1818 nurse, who during the review of information relevant to a case
1919 selected for review under this chapter learns of conduct related to
2020 the provider's profession that is subject to a reporting
2121 requirement is exempt from that reporting requirement for the
2222 reviewed information.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
