78 AN ACT
89 relating to justice court security in certain counties.
910 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1011 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 27, Government Code, is
1112 amended by adding Section 27.007 to read as follows:
1213 Sec. 27.007. JUSTICE COURT SECURITY IN CERTAIN COUNTIES.
1314 (a) The commissioners court of a county with a population of 3.3
1415 million or more shall provide to each justice court in the county a
1516 metal detection device and a constable, deputy constable, or deputy
1617 sheriff for each door of the court open to the public.
1718 (b) In complying with this section, the commissioners court
18- shall use money from the general revenue fund of the county.
19+ shall first use money in the county's courthouse security fund
20+ established under Article 102.017, Code of Criminal Procedure, and
21+ only if necessary, money from the general revenue fund of the
22+ county.
1923 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
