57 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
68 AN ACT
79 relating to instruction for barbers and cosmetologists on
810 identifying and assisting victims of domestic violence.
911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. Section 1603.2308, Occupations Code, is amended
1113 by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1214 (b-1) The rules adopted under Subsection (b) must require
1315 students to receive instruction on identifying and assisting
1416 victims of domestic violence.
1517 SECTION 2. Section 1603.3002, Occupations Code, is amended
1618 by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1719 (d) In addition to any continuing education requirements
1820 established under Subsection (a), the commission shall adopt rules
1921 requiring a license holder to complete continuing education on
2022 identifying and assisting victims of domestic violence.
2123 SECTION 3. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2224 of this Act, the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall
2325 adopt rules to implement the changes in law made by this Act.
2426 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
