5	7		CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
6	8		WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump has declared that it is in
7	9		the national interest to promote America's affordable and reliable
8	10		energy resources to restore American prosperity; and
9	11		WHEREAS, Texas is a national leader in electricity
10	12		production, producing more electricity than any other state, nearly
11	13		twice as much as the second highest-producing state; and
12	14		WHEREAS, Texas continues to lead the nation in economic
13	15		development and electricity load growth; and
14	16		WHEREAS, Natural gas and nuclear generation plants create
15	17		reliable and affordable electricity for Texas families and
16	18		businesses and provide nearly half of Texas' electricity generation
17	19		overall; and
18	20		WHEREAS, These reliable and affordable electricity supplies
19	21		improve the quality of life for Texas families and are critical to
20	22		making Texas the best state in America to locate businesses; and
21	23		WHEREAS, The natural gas and nuclear generation plants
22	24		directly employed 12,242 people in the state in 2024; and
23	25		WHEREAS, The oil and gas industry in the state employed more
24	26		than 492,000 Texans in 2024; and
25	27		WHEREAS, Texas must preserve its existing nuclear and gas
26	28		fleet and support the expansion of gas and nuclear in the state,
27	29		including the development of new nuclear reactors; and
28	30		WHEREAS, These goals are supported by Sections 45U, 45Y, and
29	31		48E of the Internal Revenue Code, which provide federal tax support
30	32		for new and existing nuclear technologies; now, therefore, be it
31	33		RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
32	34		hereby respectfully urge the Congress of the United States to
33	35		preserve Sections 45U, 45Y, and 48E of the Internal Revenue Code to
34	36		support the preservation and expansion of America's nuclear fleet;
35	37		and, be it further
36	38		RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward official
37	39		copies of this resolution to the president of the United States, to
38	40		the president of the Senate and the speaker of the House of
39	41		Representatives of the United States Congress, and to all the
40	42		members of the Texas delegation to Congress with the request that
41	43		this resolution be entered in the Congressional Record as a
42	44		memorial to the Congress of the United States of America.
