77 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
88 WHEREAS, Texans of all ages benefit from the work of
99 counseling professionals, and the designation of April as
1010 Counseling Awareness Month serves as a fitting means to honor those
1111 who dedicate themselves to this important calling; and
1212 WHEREAS, Professional counselors provide a wide range of
1313 services to help people overcome mental health challenges and live
1414 healthier and more productive lives; they currently make up the
1515 largest group of mental health providers in the state, with more
1616 than 13,000 Certified School Counselors and 34,000 Licensed
1717 Professional Counselors and LPC Associates; and
1818 WHEREAS, Individuals can access professional counseling
1919 services through educational institutions, mental health agencies,
2020 community organizations, hospitals, rehabilitation centers,
2121 private practices, and other settings; and
2222 WHEREAS, By empowering people to address their
2323 social-emotional needs and achieve their goals, professional
2424 counselors play a vital role in strengthening our communities, and
2525 the official designation of Counseling Awareness Month helps to
2626 promote a better understanding of their essential contributions;
2727 now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
2929 hereby designate April as Counseling Awareness Month; and, be it
3030 further
3131 RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section
3232 391.004(d), Government Code, this designation remain in effect
3333 until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally
3434 passed by the legislature.
