 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, National Tennis Month is taking place in May 2025,
 providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the Gulf Coast Tennis
 Association for its myriad contributions; and
 WHEREAS, The organization was founded in 2016 by Don Cudd and
 Joan Houken; an all-volunteer nonprofit community association
 affiliated with the United States Tennis Association Texas, GCTA
 promotes tennis in Brazoria and Matagorda Counties and in other
 areas along the Texas Gulf Coast south of Houston; and
 WHEREAS, GCTA has introduced many programs and events since
 its inception; in addition to free tennis lessons, team tennis,
 doubles leagues, and tournaments, its offerings also include the
 Ace It summer camp for youth and Alley Cats Red Ball for adults who
 are new to the game; in 2022, the association awarded its first
 scholarship and started the Tennis for All camp, and two years
 later, members of a GCTA team achieved first-place and third-place
 finishes in a Special Olympics Texas event; and
 WHEREAS, The Gulf Coast Tennis Association is made up of
 volunteers who help grow the sport in their communities, and each
 year, these individuals are honored for their exemplary efforts at
 an appreciation banquet that is held in August; and
 WHEREAS, For nearly a decade, the Gulf Coast Tennis
 Association has helped countless Texans reach their full potential
 both on and off the court, and the organization's founders, board
 members, and staff are indeed deserving of recognition for their
 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Gulf Coast Tennis Association on the
 occasion of National Tennis Month 2025 and extend to all those
 affiliated with the group sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for GCTA as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
 of Representatives.
