77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
99 a close with the passing of Don McGowan of La Porte on April 15,
1010 2025, at the age of 57; and
1111 WHEREAS, The son of James "Buddy" McGowan and Marguerita
1212 "Margie" McGowan-Sliger, "Donny" McGowan was born in New Orleans,
1313 Louisiana, on June 13, 1967, and he grew up with the companionship
1414 of three brothers, James, Freddy, and Chris; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mr. McGowan began his career as a journeyman
1616 electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
1717 Local Union 716 in Houston; he then worked as a field technician for
1818 the Texas Highway Department before holding numerous positions with
1919 the City of Houston Public Works Department; he closed out his
2020 career with Houston TranStar, retiring as a division manager in
2121 2024 after a total of 37 years in electric and traffic engineering;
2222 and
2323 WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. McGowan was a longtime
2424 member of Faith Assembly of God in Pasadena; he served as a chaplain
2525 with the Pasadena Police Department, and he was a licensed minister
2626 with Christian Global Outreach Ministries; in all his endeavors, he
2727 enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Stephanie, with whom he
2828 shared a fulfilling marriage that spanned more than three and a half
2929 decades, and he took great pride in his son, Tyler; in his leisure
3030 hours, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and biking; and
3131 WHEREAS, Donny McGowan distinguished himself as a skilled
3232 professional, an admired spiritual leader, and a devoted family
3333 man, and he leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by
3434 all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Don McGowan and
3737 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3838 wife, Stephanie McGowan; to his son, Tyler McGowan, and his wife,
3939 Adriana; to his brothers, James McGowan and his wife, Jackie,
4040 Freddy McGowan and his wife, Cari, and Chris McGowan and his wife,
4141 Cathy; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4343 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4444 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Don
4545 McGowan.
