77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on
99 March 30, 2025, with the passing of Arthur Teneyuca Moreno of
1010 Austin at the age of 80; and
1111 WHEREAS, The son of Geronima and Amalio Moreno, Art Moreno
1212 was born on May 17, 1944, and he grew up on the south side of San
1313 Antonio; after graduating from Harlandale High School, he joined
1414 the U.S. Navy, circumnavigating the globe three times during his
1515 four years of dedicated service; he then attended St. Mary's
1616 University, where he was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and
1717 voter registration advocacy; and
1818 WHEREAS, Over the course of his career in human resources,
1919 Mr. Moreno worked for four administrations of Texas governors, the
2020 Texas General Land Office, and the Texas Department of Health;
2121 active in his community, he was a charter member of the Greater
2222 Southwest Optimist Club and a founder of the National Hispanic
2323 Institute; in his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to Tejano
2424 music; and
2525 WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Moreno took great pride in his
2626 cherished family; he shared a rewarding marriage of 52 years with
2727 his wife, Gloria, and he was a devoted father to their three
2828 daughters, Leticia, Victoria, and Gabriela; over the years, he
2929 became a loving "Pipo" to eight grandchildren; and
3030 WHEREAS, While the passing of Art Moreno brings great sadness
3131 to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that will long
3232 be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3434 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Arthur Teneyuca
3535 Moreno and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family:
3636 to his wife, Gloria Mayo-Moreno; to his daughters, Leticia
3737 Caballero and her husband, Frank, Victoria Herrera and her husband,
3838 Jorge, and Gabriela Saenz and her husband, Aaron; to his
3939 grandchildren, Frankie, Lucas, and Sara Caballero, Ilan,
4040 Alejandra, and Carolina Herrera, and Mateo and Tomas Saenz; to
4141 Maryanne Serna, Joanne Cavazos, Rosalinda Garcia, and Irma Moreno;
4242 and to his numerous nephews, nieces, and friends; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4545 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Art Moreno.
