8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on |
---|
9 | 9 | | March 30, 2025, with the passing of Arthur Teneyuca Moreno of |
---|
10 | 10 | | Austin at the age of 80; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Geronima and Amalio Moreno, Art Moreno |
---|
12 | 12 | | was born on May 17, 1944, and he grew up on the south side of San |
---|
13 | 13 | | Antonio; after graduating from Harlandale High School, he joined |
---|
14 | 14 | | the U.S. Navy, circumnavigating the globe three times during his |
---|
15 | 15 | | four years of dedicated service; he then attended St. Mary's |
---|
16 | 16 | | University, where he was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and |
---|
17 | 17 | | voter registration advocacy; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career in human resources, |
---|
19 | 19 | | Mr. Moreno worked for four administrations of Texas governors, the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Texas General Land Office, and the Texas Department of Health; |
---|
21 | 21 | | active in his community, he was a charter member of the Greater |
---|
22 | 22 | | Southwest Optimist Club and a founder of the National Hispanic |
---|
23 | 23 | | Institute; in his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to Tejano |
---|
24 | 24 | | music; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Moreno took great pride in his |
---|
26 | 26 | | cherished family; he shared a rewarding marriage of 52 years with |
---|
27 | 27 | | his wife, Gloria, and he was a devoted father to their three |
---|
28 | 28 | | daughters, Leticia, Victoria, and Gabriela; over the years, he |
---|
29 | 29 | | became a loving "Pipo" to eight grandchildren; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of Art Moreno brings great sadness |
---|
31 | 31 | | to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that will long |
---|
32 | 32 | | be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Arthur Teneyuca |
---|
35 | 35 | | Moreno and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: |

36 | 36 | | to his wife, Gloria Mayo-Moreno; to his daughters, Leticia |

37 | 37 | | Caballero and her husband, Frank, Victoria Herrera and her husband, |

38 | 38 | | Jorge, and Gabriela Saenz and her husband, Aaron; to his |

39 | 39 | | grandchildren, Frankie, Lucas, and Sara Caballero, Ilan, |
