No. 1039 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on March 30, 2025, with the passing of Arthur Teneyuca Moreno of Austin at the age of 80; and WHEREAS, The son of Geronima and Amalio Moreno, Art Moreno was born on May 17, 1944, and he grew up on the south side of San Antonio; after graduating from Harlandale High School, he joined the U.S. Navy, circumnavigating the globe three times during his four years of dedicated service; he then attended St. Mary's University, where he was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and voter registration advocacy; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his career in human resources, Mr. Moreno worked for four administrations of Texas governors, the Texas General Land Office, and the Texas Department of Health; active in his community, he was a charter member of the Greater Southwest Optimist Club and a founder of the National Hispanic Institute; in his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to Tejano music; and WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Moreno took great pride in his cherished family; he shared a rewarding marriage of 52 years with his wife, Gloria, and he was a devoted father to their three daughters, Leticia, Victoria, and Gabriela; over the years, he became a loving "Pipo" to eight grandchildren; and WHEREAS, While the passing of Art Moreno brings great sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Arthur Teneyuca Moreno and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Gloria Mayo-Moreno; to his daughters, Leticia Caballero and her husband, Frank, Victoria Herrera and her husband, Jorge, and Gabriela Saenz and her husband, Aaron; to his grandchildren, Frankie, Lucas, and Sara Caballero, Ilan, Alejandra, and Carolina Herrera, and Mateo and Tomas Saenz; to Maryanne Serna, Joanne Cavazos, Rosalinda Garcia, and Irma Moreno; and to his numerous nephews, nieces, and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Art Moreno.
