H.R. No. 196 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Austin County 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl team took first place at the Western National Roundup held on January 9, 2025, in Denver, Colorado; and WHEREAS, This outstanding achievement followed a number of other impressive performances by the team; after advancing from the District 11 4-H Spring Spectacular in April 2024, the group bested nine other teams to place first at the Texas 4-H Roundup in June, qualifying for the national competition; team Texas defeated Idaho, Colorado, Alaska, and Minnesota to reach the semifinals, where they triumphed over Colorado once again to claim the national championship; and WHEREAS, The dedicated members of the Austin County team are all juniors at Bellville High School; Katelyn Krenek, who served as team captain, was named fourth High Point Individual overall, and Madilyn McCullough was named Champion High Point Individual with her record-breaking total of 32 points; the team also received valuable contributions from its other members, Darcy Luedke and Katie Schumann, and is ably guided by coaches Janet and Rodney Melnar; and WHEREAS, These accomplished young Texans devoted many hours to increasing their knowledge of livestock-related topics, and their diligence and commitment to their studies are qualities that will serve them well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Austin County 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl team on winning first place at the Western National Roundup and extend to the members of the team sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
