H.R. No. 28 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Chambers County community lost an esteemed citizen with the tragic passing of Adrian Brian Combs, and he is being memorialized with the dedication of a portion of FM 1405 as the Adrian Combs Memorial Highway; and WHEREAS, Adrian Combs was born on March 24, 1981, to Patricia Combs and Billy Combs, a former Beach City mayor and Chambers County commissioner; he grew up with the companionship of a younger brother, Cody; and WHEREAS, Mr. Combs enjoyed a rewarding career in commercial real estate, working alongside his father at Combs Commercial, LLC; in all his endeavors, he benefited from the love and support of his soulmate, Shayla; he was an avid cyclist and triathlete, and he liked to travel; and WHEREAS, On April 14, 2024, Mr. Combs was cycling on FM 1405 when he was struck and killed by a truck driver; he was 43 years old at the time of his death; the designation of a portion of that highway in his honor will help to promote public awareness of the presence of cyclists and affirm the importance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Adrian Combs will remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth, generosity, and delightful sense of humor, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the naming of the Adrian Combs Memorial Highway in Chambers County and pay tribute to the life and legacy of Adrian Brian Combs; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Combs's family as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
