10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Leslie and Sarah Fowler, Billy Ray Fowler |

11 | 12 | | was born in Goldthwaite on August 18, 1935, and he grew up with the |
---|
12 | 13 | | companionship of three siblings, Sarah, Sue, and Paul; he graduated |
---|
13 | 14 | | in 1953 from Throckmorton High School, and he went on to serve in |
---|
14 | 15 | | the United States Army as a helicopter mechanic and as a member of |
---|
15 | 16 | | the 82nd Airborne Division from 1957 to 1959; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, On January 15, 1958, Mr. Fowler married Patsy |
---|
17 | 18 | | Yarbrough, and the couple shared in a fulfilling union that spanned |
---|
18 | 19 | | 67 years; he took great pride in his two sons, Ray and Gary, and over |
---|
19 | 20 | | the years, his family grew to include six grandchildren and eight |
---|
20 | 21 | | great-grandchildren; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fowler owned and operated a Conoco service |
---|
22 | 23 | | station with his wife for more than three decades; deeply committed |
---|
23 | 24 | | to his community, he enjoyed a 37-year tenure as the Throckmorton |
---|
24 | 25 | | justice of the peace, and he was a member of the city council; he |
---|
25 | 26 | | further gave of his time and talents to the volunteer fire |
---|
26 | 27 | | department from 1969 to 2000, and he coached several Little League |
---|
27 | 28 | | teams; a man of strong faith, he was an active member of the First |
---|
28 | 29 | | Baptist Church of Throckmorton, where he taught Sunday School |
---|
29 | 30 | | classes, and he also served on the board of the Throckmorton |
---|
30 | 31 | | Cemetery; and |

31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family and his community, |

32 | 33 | | Billy Ray Fowler made a meaningful difference in the lives of his |

33 | 34 | | loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and he will long be remembered |

34 | 35 | | with deep affection by all who knew him; now, therefore, be it |

35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
