67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, The passing of Larry Lyndon Beauchamp of Lawn on
89 December 26, 2024, at the age of 86, concluded a remarkable life of
910 service to the law enforcement community and to the State of Texas;
1011 and
1112 WHEREAS, The youngest child of P. G. and Bertie Beauchamp,
1213 Larry Beauchamp was born in Terry County on March 4, 1938, and he
1314 grew up with four siblings, P. G., James, Ada, and Joyce; following
1415 his graduation from Rochester High School, he exchanged wedding
1516 vows with his childhood sweetheart, the former Frankie Jo Sherley,
1617 on June 30, 1956; the couple shared a rewarding marriage that
1718 spanned 68 years, raising two children, James and John, and
1819 welcoming five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren into
1920 their treasured family; and
2021 WHEREAS, Mr. Beauchamp began his 35-year law enforcement
2122 career with the Brownfield Police Department; after spending more
2223 than a decade there, he was stationed with the U.S. Army military
2324 police in Colorado, in Georgia, and at Fort Bliss in El Paso; he
2425 went on to serve as chief of the New Braunfels Police Department and
2526 as chief of legislative and capitol security for the Texas State
2627 Capitol complex; in addition, he was an investigator with the Texas
2728 Board of Investigators in Midland, the Haskell County District
2829 Attorney's Office, and the Travis County District Attorney's Office
2930 public integrity unit; he later served as an assistant commissioner
3031 with the Texas Department of Agriculture and as a construction
3132 manager with the Texas Veterans Land Board; a graduate of the
3233 Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, he distinguished
3334 himself over the years by earning a reputation for his commitment to
3435 professional development and ethical standards; and
3536 WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a dedicated public servant,
3637 Larry Beauchamp is deeply missed, but the integrity with which he
3738 lived his life will forever inspire all who had the good fortune to
3839 know him; now, therefore, be it
3940 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4041 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Larry Lyndon
4142 Beauchamp and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his
4243 family: to his wife, Frankie Jo Beauchamp; to his sons, James Lyndon
4344 Beauchamp and John Presley Beauchamp; to his grandchildren,
4445 Kourtney Amelia Schopper, Caleigh Rea Popp, and Presley Suresh,
4546 Nila Jo, and Kareena Lyndon Beauchamp; to his great-grandchildren,
4647 Suzette and Betty Schopper and Pearl and Silas Popp; to his sisters,
4748 Ada Ruth Pope and Joyce Arlene Hester; and to his many other
4849 relatives and friends; and, be it further
4950 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5051 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5152 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Larry
5253 Beauchamp.
