7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The passing of Larry Lyndon Beauchamp of Lawn on |

9 | 10 | | service to the law enforcement community and to the State of Texas; |

11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The youngest child of P. G. and Bertie Beauchamp, |
---|
12 | 13 | | Larry Beauchamp was born in Terry County on March 4, 1938, and he |
---|
13 | 14 | | grew up with four siblings, P. G., James, Ada, and Joyce; following |
---|
14 | 15 | | his graduation from Rochester High School, he exchanged wedding |
---|
15 | 16 | | vows with his childhood sweetheart, the former Frankie Jo Sherley, |
---|
16 | 17 | | on June 30, 1956; the couple shared a rewarding marriage that |
---|
17 | 18 | | spanned 68 years, raising two children, James and John, and |
---|
18 | 19 | | welcoming five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren into |
---|
19 | 20 | | their treasured family; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Beauchamp began his 35-year law enforcement |
---|
21 | 22 | | career with the Brownfield Police Department; after spending more |
---|
22 | 23 | | than a decade there, he was stationed with the U.S. Army military |
---|
23 | 24 | | police in Colorado, in Georgia, and at Fort Bliss in El Paso; he |
---|
24 | 25 | | went on to serve as chief of the New Braunfels Police Department and |
---|
25 | 26 | | as chief of legislative and capitol security for the Texas State |
---|
26 | 27 | | Capitol complex; in addition, he was an investigator with the Texas |
---|
27 | 28 | | Board of Investigators in Midland, the Haskell County District |
---|
28 | 29 | | Attorney's Office, and the Travis County District Attorney's Office |
---|
29 | 30 | | public integrity unit; he later served as an assistant commissioner |
---|
30 | 31 | | with the Texas Department of Agriculture and as a construction |
---|
31 | 32 | | manager with the Texas Veterans Land Board; a graduate of the |
---|
32 | 33 | | Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, he distinguished |
---|
33 | 34 | | himself over the years by earning a reputation for his commitment to |

34 | 35 | | professional development and ethical standards; and |

35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a dedicated public servant, |

36 | 37 | | Larry Beauchamp is deeply missed, but the integrity with which he |

37 | 38 | | lived his life will forever inspire all who had the good fortune to |

38 | 39 | | know him; now, therefore, be it |

39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
