H.R. No. 541 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Doug Loomis is retiring as superintendent of the Amarillo Independent School District on June 30, 2025, drawing to a close an exemplary tenure with the district that has spanned nearly four decades; and WHEREAS, Mr. Loomis is a graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and he holds a master's degree in education from West Texas A&M University; he has spent the entirety of his career with Amarillo ISD, where he has worked at every school level and within every district cluster; he held the positions of physical education teacher at Wolflin Elementary, science and health teacher at Bonham Middle and Fannin Middle, assistant principal at Houston Middle, associate principal at Palo Duro High, principal at Mann Middle and Amarillo High, and executive director of student performance for the Caprock High cluster, and he served Amarillo ISD as chief human resource officer and as interim superintendent before taking over as superintendent of schools in 2019; and WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Mr. Loomis more time to spend with his family, which includes his wife of more than 30 years, Gisele, and their children, Jordan and Braydan; and WHEREAS, Through his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Doug Loomis has greatly benefited the students of Amarillo ISD and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, and his contributions to the district will be remembered and appreciated for many years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Doug Loomis on his retirement as superintendent of the Amarillo Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Loomis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
