| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |

| 8 | 9 | | passing of Ruben Reyna Sr. of Weslaco on March 5, 2025, at the age |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born in Weslaco on October 26, 1939, Ruben Reyna was |

| 11 | 12 | | the son of Octaviano and Dolores Reyna, and he grew up with the |

| 12 | 13 | | companionship of three siblings, Rene, Richard, and Rosario; he |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | attended school in Weslaco and married his childhood sweetheart, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the former Juanita Alvarado, on October 9, 1961; he was the proud |

| 15 | 16 | | father of four children, Ruben, Thelma, Patricia, and Rodney, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | with the passing years, his cherished family grew to include eight |

| 17 | 18 | | grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Reyna owned and operated Ruben's Body |

| 19 | 20 | | Shop in Weslaco for nearly six decades; he enjoyed chatting with |

| 20 | 21 | | lifelong and new customers alike, often sharing car recommendations |

| 21 | 22 | | and cups of coffee with them, and both of his sons later joined the |

| 22 | 23 | | family business; in 2019, it received the Readers' Choice Award for |

| 23 | 24 | | Best Auto Body Shop and was featured in the Mid-Valley Town Crier; |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A man of devout faith, Mr. Reyna was a longtime |

| 26 | 27 | | congregant of St. Pius X Catholic Church; a talented accordion |

| 27 | 28 | | player, he was known for serenading guests at family parties; in his |

| 28 | 29 | | leisure time, he also took pleasure in traveling to casinos, |

| 29 | 30 | | playing the lottery, and collecting classic and antique cars; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Although his passing brings great sadness to his |

| 31 | 32 | | loved ones, Ruben Reyna leaves behind a legacy that will long be |

| 32 | 33 | | treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
