7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Chi-mei Lin is retiring as chief executive officer |

8 | 9 | | of the Chinese Community Center in Houston in December 2024, |

9 | 10 | | drawing to a close more than two decades of dedicated service to the |

10 | 11 | | agency; and |
---|
11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Lin was first hired at the Chinese Community |
---|
12 | 13 | | Center as associate executive director in 1999; since becoming CEO |
---|
13 | 14 | | of the organization in 2002, she has played an important role in |
---|
14 | 15 | | guiding its evolution from a language school to an agency that |
---|
15 | 16 | | provides job training and senior services to residents of all |
---|
16 | 17 | | ethnicities; along the way, she has worked tirelessly to foster |
---|
17 | 18 | | collaborations with local and national initiatives to better serve |
---|
18 | 19 | | the Greater Houston area and amplify the voices of Asian Americans |
---|
19 | 20 | | in the community; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Under Ms. Lin's leadership, the CCC Child |
---|
21 | 22 | | Development Center achieved national accreditation from the |
---|
22 | 23 | | National Association for the Education of Young Children, a |
---|
23 | 24 | | designation that has been awarded to fewer than five percent of |
---|
24 | 25 | | childcare centers in Houston; moreover, she has been instrumental |
---|
25 | 26 | | in establishing the CCC Financial Opportunity Center and in |
---|
26 | 27 | | overseeing the successful completion of two major building |
---|
27 | 28 | | campaigns that have greatly expanded and enhanced the CCC |
---|
28 | 29 | | facilities; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, A native of Xindian, Taiwan, Ms. Lin studied English |
---|
30 | 31 | | and education at National Taiwan University before moving to the |
---|
31 | 32 | | United States to further her knowledge of Western education and |
---|
32 | 33 | | administration standards at the University of Michigan; she went on |
---|
33 | 34 | | to acquire professional experience as a YMCA after-school teacher |
---|
34 | 35 | | and as an employee at Disaster Recovery Coalition of America |
---|
35 | 36 | | WorkWell; and |
---|
36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, The Chinese Community Center has benefited |

37 | 38 | | immeasurably from Chi-mei Lin's vision, expertise, and unwavering |
---|
38 | 39 | | dedication to the agency's mission, and the impact of her |
---|
39 | 40 | | contributions will be felt for many years to come; now, therefore, |

41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

42 | 43 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Chi-mei Lin on her retirement as |
