H.R. No. 57 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Chi-mei Lin is retiring as chief executive officer of the Chinese Community Center in Houston in December 2024, drawing to a close more than two decades of dedicated service to the agency; and WHEREAS, Ms. Lin was first hired at the Chinese Community Center as associate executive director in 1999; since becoming CEO of the organization in 2002, she has played an important role in guiding its evolution from a language school to an agency that provides job training and senior services to residents of all ethnicities; along the way, she has worked tirelessly to foster collaborations with local and national initiatives to better serve the Greater Houston area and amplify the voices of Asian Americans in the community; and WHEREAS, Under Ms. Lin's leadership, the CCC Child Development Center achieved national accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a designation that has been awarded to fewer than five percent of childcare centers in Houston; moreover, she has been instrumental in establishing the CCC Financial Opportunity Center and in overseeing the successful completion of two major building campaigns that have greatly expanded and enhanced the CCC facilities; and WHEREAS, A native of Xindian, Taiwan, Ms. Lin studied English and education at National Taiwan University before moving to the United States to further her knowledge of Western education and administration standards at the University of Michigan; she went on to acquire professional experience as a YMCA after-school teacher and as an employee at Disaster Recovery Coalition of America WorkWell; and WHEREAS, The Chinese Community Center has benefited immeasurably from Chi-mei Lin's vision, expertise, and unwavering dedication to the agency's mission, and the impact of her contributions will be felt for many years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Chi-mei Lin on her retirement as chief executive officer of the Chinese Community Center and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Lin as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
