7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

8 | 9 | | passing of Eugene Bothe of Brenham on March 11, 2025, at the age of |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of August and Margarethe Bothe, Eugene Bothe |
---|
11 | 12 | | was born in Meyersville on April 28, 1932, and he grew up with the |
---|
12 | 13 | | companionship of six siblings, Lonnie, Melvin, Ervin, Delores, |
---|
13 | 14 | | Irene, and Clarence; he was baptized on October 30, 1932, and he was |
---|
14 | 15 | | later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville; he |
---|
15 | 16 | | attended schools in Wiedeville, and some of his first jobs included |
---|
16 | 17 | | picking cotton, baling hay, and driving a milk truck; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, On September 18, 1955, Mr. Bothe wed the former |
---|
18 | 19 | | Elois Kochwelp, and the couple went on to share in a rewarding |
---|
19 | 20 | | marriage that spanned nearly 46 years until her passing in 2001; he |
---|
20 | 21 | | took great pride in their five children, Jerry, Roxanna, Michael, |
---|
21 | 22 | | Ronald, and Pamela, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure |
---|
22 | 23 | | of seeing his treasured family grow to include eight grandchildren |
---|
23 | 24 | | and two great-grandchildren; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bothe embarked on a long and fulfilling career |
---|
25 | 26 | | as a car salesman when he went to work for Rankin Motors; in 1970, he |
---|
26 | 27 | | bought into the dealership and became a partner, and he later |
---|
27 | 28 | | assumed its ownership in 1974; after many years of successfully |
---|
28 | 29 | | running Bothe Ford, he sold the dealership and joined Tegeler |
---|
29 | 30 | | Toyota, where he continued to work up until his passing; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Bothe also dabbled in the dirt |
---|
31 | 32 | | construction and cattle businesses, work that he especially enjoyed |
---|
32 | 33 | | doing with family and friends; a beloved member of his community, he |
---|
33 | 34 | | also delighted in the many happy hours he spent dancing at parties |
---|
34 | 35 | | and special events; and |

35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, the passage of |

36 | 37 | | time will never diminish the joy and love that Eugene Bothe brought |

37 | 38 | | into the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it |

38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
