67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
89 memories of Jonathan David Corder of Levelland, who tragically
910 passed away on October 27, 2022, at the age of 41; and
1011 WHEREAS, The son of David and Sylvia Corder, Jon Corder was
1112 born in El Cajon, California, on August 27, 1981, and he grew up
1213 with two siblings, Jessica and Jeremy; following his graduation
1314 from Levelland High School, he lived in San Marcos and Buda; and
1415 WHEREAS, In 2020, Mr. Corder moved back to Levelland, where
1516 he began working as an animal control officer for the city's police
1617 department; he distinguished himself in his responsibilities of
1718 investigating animal cruelty and neglect, saving animals, helping
1819 to find them homes, and addressing a range of other animal-related
1920 concerns; additionally, he was engaged in providing community
2021 support and outreach, and he earned a reputation for always going
2122 above and beyond in his duties; he and his partner, Crystal Goforth,
2223 were responding to a call on October 13, 2022, when their work truck
2324 was struck by another vehicle; Mr. Corder and Mrs. Goforth died from
2425 the injuries they sustained in the collision, and their dedicated
2526 service has continued to inspire an outpouring of prayers and
2627 sympathy from the community; at the time of his death, Mr. Corder
2728 was attending college with the goal of becoming an addiction
2829 counselor; and
2930 WHEREAS, Mr. Corder was the proud father of a son, Cole; he
3031 enjoyed visiting casinos and bingo halls with his mother, and he was
3132 a generous man who never met a stranger; his interests included
3233 playing baseball and watching Texas Tech University and Dallas
3334 Cowboys football, and he was passionate about fast cars; and
3435 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Jon Corder will
3536 remember the way he touched their lives with his love of animals and
3637 his giving and compassionate nature, and he will always hold a
3738 treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3839 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3940 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jonathan David
4041 Corder and extend deepest condolences to the members of his family:
4142 to his son, Cole Corder; to his parents, David and Sylvia Corder; to
4243 his sister, Jessica Corder, her husband, Steven Brantley, and their
4344 children, Mersaydes, Matheu and Addison; to his brother, Jeremy
4445 Corder, his wife, Courtney, and their children, Eloise and B. M.; to
4546 his grandmother, Mary Hernandez; to his uncles and aunts, Jr.
4647 Hernandez and his wife, Sherry, Rick Hernandez and his wife, Renee
4748 Edwards, Patrick Hernandez, Margie Butcher and her husband, Randy,
4849 Joe Hernandez and his wife, Norma, David Hernandez, John Corder and
4950 his wife, Tammy, Cheryl Mauler, Jane Gray, and Susan Dillon; and to
5051 his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
5152 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5253 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5354 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jon Corder.
