| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on November 20, 1938, Louis |

| 11 | 12 | | Escalante was the son of Sebastian Escalante and Emilia Parada; he |

| 12 | 13 | | was best known as a founding member and lead singer of the popular |

| 13 | 14 | | Chicano soul group the Royal Jesters; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Formed on the west side of Alamo City in 1958, the |

| 15 | 16 | | Royal Jesters fused rock and roll with traditional Mexican American |

| 16 | 17 | | harmonies and performed in such local venues as Patio Andaluz, La |

| 17 | 18 | | Salle, Plaza Juarez, and Municipal Auditorium; Mr. Escalante lent |

| 18 | 19 | | his smooth and soulful vocals to hits like "My Angel of Love," "We |

| 19 | 20 | | Go Together," and "Love Me"; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Escalante was deeply devoted to |

| 21 | 22 | | his family; he shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Dora |

| 22 | 23 | | Buentello Escalante, until her passing, and he took great pride in |

| 23 | 24 | | his three children, Luis, Mike, and Lizette, and his seven |

| 24 | 25 | | grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Louis Escalante made vital contributions to Tejano |

| 26 | 27 | | music through his singular talent, and his kindness, generosity, |
