 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Louis Parada Escalante
 were deeply saddened by his death on March 20, 2025, at the age of
 86; and
 WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on November 20, 1938, Louis
 Escalante was the son of Sebastian Escalante and Emilia Parada; he
 was best known as a founding member and lead singer of the popular
 Chicano soul group the Royal Jesters; and
 WHEREAS, Formed on the west side of Alamo City in 1958, the
 Royal Jesters fused rock and roll with traditional Mexican American
 harmonies and performed in such local venues as Patio Andaluz, La
 Salle, Plaza Juarez, and Municipal Auditorium; Mr. Escalante lent
 his smooth and soulful vocals to hits like "My Angel of Love," "We
 Go Together," and "Love Me"; and
 WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Escalante was deeply devoted to
 his family; he shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Dora
 Buentello Escalante, until her passing, and he took great pride in
 his three children, Luis, Mike, and Lizette, and his seven
 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Louis Escalante made vital contributions to Tejano
 music through his singular talent, and his kindness, generosity,
 and strength of character will be remembered by all who were
 privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Louis Parada
 Escalante and extend profound condolences to the members of his
 family: to his sons, Luis Escalante Jr. and his wife, Laura Linda,
 and Mike Escalante and his wife, Fawn; to his daughter, Lizette
 Pleasanton; to his grandchildren, Gianna Sky Solares, Lindsay
 Denise Escalante, Zoe Kaitlyn Escalante, Marissa Chapa and her
 husband, Joseph, Marc Anthony Escalante, Evon Pleasanton, and
 Remington Pleasanton; to his great-grandchildren, Mateo, Marcelo,
 and Maciel Chapa; to his brother, Richard E. Sifuentes; to his
 sisters, Janie Martinez and Olga Villanueva; and to his other
 relatives and friends and his many fans; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Louis
 Escalante.
