| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, George David Scott III of Richmond has made |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | invaluable contributions to the Lone Star State over the course of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his exemplary career in the cattle industry; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A sixth-generation cattleman and rancher, Dave |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Scott is a descendent of the Stephen F. Austin Old Three Hundred |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | colony; in 1960, he became a partner with his father in the Scott |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Livestock Commission Company, and he currently serves as the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | operator of the G. D. Scott Cattle Company; he has partnerships in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | several counties in the Lone Star State, and he has grazed stocker |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | cattle in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, and Colorado; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2018, Mr. Scott was reappointed by Governor Greg |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Abbott to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | which focuses its efforts on the conservation of working lands with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | high values for water, fish and wildlife, and agricultural |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | production; he has also served as president of the Texas and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, as a director of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and as board chair for the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Brazos River Authority; additionally, he belongs to the Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Cattle Feeders Association, and he holds life membership with the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Brazoria County Cattlemen's Association, the Fort Bend County Fair |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Association, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, for which he |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | chairs the range bull and commercial heifer committee; in 2024, he |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and |

| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Dave Scott has distinguished himself through his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | unwavering commitment to the continued growth and vitality of the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | state's cattle industry and to the conservation of precious natural |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | resources, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in honoring him at |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | this time; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commend George David Scott III for his |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | contributions to the cattle industry and extend to him sincere best |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
