No. 800 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, George David Scott III of Richmond has made invaluable contributions to the Lone Star State over the course of his exemplary career in the cattle industry; and WHEREAS, A sixth-generation cattleman and rancher, Dave Scott is a descendent of the Stephen F. Austin Old Three Hundred colony; in 1960, he became a partner with his father in the Scott Livestock Commission Company, and he currently serves as the operator of the G. D. Scott Cattle Company; he has partnerships in several counties in the Lone Star State, and he has grazed stocker cattle in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, and Colorado; and WHEREAS, In 2018, Mr. Scott was reappointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council, which focuses its efforts on the conservation of working lands with high values for water, fish and wildlife, and agricultural production; he has also served as president of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, as a director of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and as board chair for the Brazos River Authority; additionally, he belongs to the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, and he holds life membership with the Brazoria County Cattlemen's Association, the Fort Bend County Fair Association, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, for which he chairs the range bull and commercial heifer committee; in 2024, he was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Dave Scott has distinguished himself through his unwavering commitment to the continued growth and vitality of the state's cattle industry and to the conservation of precious natural resources, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in honoring him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby commend George David Scott III for his contributions to the cattle industry and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Scott as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
