No. 842 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Texas Music Project, a charitable organization dedicated to preserving the state's musical heritage and supporting and developing the next wave of musical talent, is making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged youth through its Music Heals Program; and WHEREAS, Over the past two decades, the Texas Music Project has promoted music as a positive creative outlet for young people; recognizing a need for enhanced support of music education, the organization has raised funds, donated instruments, and offered instruction, mentorship, interactive seminars, and live performances to underserved and at-risk students; through these efforts, the organization has invested in the future of Texas music and inspired many gifted young musicians to reach their full artistic potential; and WHEREAS, Alongside its educational efforts, TMP's Music Heals Program has brought hope, joy, and healing to children confronting medical challenges by providing funding and resources for hospitals' music therapy programs; among the most notable projects under the Music Heals Program, the Song of Hope initiative empowers young patients to create their own personal anthems of hope for their healing journey, and it has garnered media attention and helped to showcase the transformative power of music therapy; and WHEREAS, Through its Music Heals Program, the Texas Music Project has given countless young Texans the opportunity to experience the wide spectrum of physical, mental, and emotional benefits of music therapy, and the organization is deserving of praise for its efforts to uplift those who are facing adversity; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby recognize October 12, 2025, as Music Heals Day in Texas and commend the Texas Music Project for its support of music therapy to foster the health and well-being of children in need; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for TMP as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
