 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The 70th birthday of a beloved community leader is
 indeed cause for celebration, and Lenora Sorola-Pohlman of Houston
 is marking this significant milestone in her life on April 29, 2025;
 and
 WHEREAS, A second-generation Houstonian, Mrs. Sorola-Pohlman
 was born and raised in the historical Magnolia Park barrio in the
 East End; she embarked on a career in the insurance industry in the
 late 1980s and became a licensed insurance broker in 1996; as a small
 business owner, she established Sorola Insurance Services, and she
 currently works with Navarro Insurance Group; and
 WHEREAS, In 1980, while employed by the City of Houston,
 Mrs. Sorola-Pohlman recognized the underrepresentation of women in
 leadership and stepped up to advocate for the Hispanic community,
 women, children, and families; over the years, she has given
 generously of her time and talents to a host of organizations; she
 has been a member of the Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board during eight
 administrations and is currently co-chair; in addition, she has
 chaired the City Park Redevelopment Authority Tax Increment
 Reinvestment Zone No. 12 and held the office of vice president for
 the Houston Foundation; she has also served on the boards of such
 organizations as Gulf Coast Workforce Development, the University
 of Houston-Downtown President's Leadership Council, and the Houston
 Minority Supplier Development Council; and
 WHEREAS, Dedicated to mentoring Latinas and promoting
 Hispanic leadership, Mrs. Sorola-Pohlman works to empower others
 and help them succeed in important roles; her efforts have earned
 her myriad accolades, among them the Yolanda Black Navarro Community
 Legacy Award, the Comcast Hispanic Hero Award, and the Barbara
 Jordan Community Impact Award from the Houston Section of the
 National Council of Negro Women; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Sorola-Pohlman is a valued member of Our Lady of
 Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she and her husband, John Pohlman,
 married in 1990; the couple shared a fulfilling relationship until
 his passing in 2020; and
 WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to
 know her, Lenora Sorola-Pohlman may reflect with great satisfaction
 on a lifetime of achievement as she celebrates this memorable
 occasion; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Lenora Sorola-Pohlman on her 70th
 birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
 happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared
 for Mrs. Sorola-Pohlman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
