78 WHEREAS, The girls' basketball team from Providence
89 Preparatory School in Belton brought its season to a triumphant
910 close by winning the 2025 Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship state
1011 championship; and
1112 WHEREAS, In just the program's fourth year, the Lady Rams
1213 demonstrated the skill and confidence of a veteran squad, excelling
1314 during the regular season and opening the playoffs with a decisive
1415 64-39 decision against Joshua Christian Academy; in the semifinals,
1516 Providence Prep defeated Heritage Christian Academy 47-41 to punch
1617 its ticket to the state final; and
1718 WHEREAS, On February 22 in Cedar Hill, the Lady Rams took the
1819 floor against district foe Grace Academy of Georgetown; determined
1920 to avenge two regular-season losses to the Griffins, the Providence
2021 players gave their all in a tough, defensive battle; when the clock
2122 expired, the Lady Rams cut down the nets in celebration of a 36-31
2223 win and the inaugural state championship in school history; with
2324 the victory, Providence finished the year with an impressive record
2425 of 17-6; and
2526 WHEREAS, The Lady Rams were led by Championship Game Most
2627 Valuable Player Elle Morrison and All-Tournament MVP Sadie Hodge;
2728 Providence Prep also received valuable contributions throughout
2829 its campaign from the other members of the roster: Madalyn
2930 Gaidusek, Lilly Hodge, Sarah Vernon, Rowen Stacey, Audrey Gaidusek,
3031 Sara Powitzky, Iris Patrick, Abigail Summers, and Shayne Hickland;
3132 these determined student-athletes were ably guided by head coach
3233 Tim Hodge and assistant coach Justin Gaidusek, and they received
3334 additional support from managers Kendall Stacey, Ainsley Wilborn,
3435 and Naomi Durham and statistician Rebecca Vernon; and
3536 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
3637 culmination of countless hours of training and an unwavering
3738 commitment to excellence, and the Providence Preparatory Lady Rams
3839 are a source of great pride to their school and their many
3940 supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it
4041 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4142 Legislature hereby congratulate the Providence Preparatory School
4243 girls' basketball team on winning the 2025 TCAF state championship
4344 and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes
4445 for continued success; and, be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4748 House of Representatives.
